Louise Yow is a physiotherapist who has been treating patients since 2006. Every page on this site carries her name and is reviewed by her.
Training and registration
- BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, Queen Margaret University, Scotland, 2006
- Registered physiotherapist with Singapore’s Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), registration number A1300363H. You can check this on the AHPC public register.
Where she has worked
Louise started in Singapore’s public hospitals, at Changi General Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital and the National Heart Centre. She went on to work with the Ministry of Defence, in nursing homes and at Mount Elizabeth Orchard, then moved into private practice. She still treats patients today.
What she focuses on
Her work centers on the neck, the upper and mid back, and the shoulder, treated as one connected region. Pain often shows up in one of these places and starts in another. Shoulder pain can come from the neck. Pain between the shoulder blades can come from a stiff upper back or an irritated nerve higher up.
She uses neck traction with patients where it fits, and she has trained in workplace ergonomics, so desk setup and daily posture are part of most of her conversations with patients.
How this site works
Every page answers the question you came with, early and plainly. Then it shows you where else that pain could be coming from, what the usual timeline looks like, what is normal along the way, and which signs mean you should get checked.
What this site is not
Louise does not offer consultations, assessments or treatment through this site, and she cannot advise on individual cases by email. Physiotherapy is called physical therapy in the United States. Louise is registered in Singapore and is not licensed to practice in the United States or anywhere else.
Nothing here replaces an examination. If your pain is new, severe or getting worse, see a doctor or a physical therapist where you live. What a physiotherapist does explains what to expect and how to find one.
